DESIGN - COVID-19 and the Changes to Routine

How are you? How did you fare, today?

And what are you doing to do to accommodate the new roles that you and your home are having
to take on?

Like many, yesterday evening was a scramble when I found our that our kids would have to be home for the
foreseeable future. Fortunately, I have a home office, so my kids immediately moved their table, found a not-yet-installed white board, and declared the space “ready” to be a classroom, too.

My office is a chameleon room that has held many roles through the years - spare room, playroom, TV room, a father-in-law-suite, work-out room, home office, and now home office with classroom. For you, today may have been harder – you didn’t know you’d be working from home, suddenly adapting your kitchen, bedroom or basement. Maybe you can’t work from home and need other arrangements. Ultimately, this Covid-19 virus is changing things in so many ways. And, our roles on a day-to-day basis change for a while, too. Yes, we do our jobs from home, plus we add the role of teacher.

As so many of us move into this uncharted territory of working from home and homeschooling for a while, please have patience. Kids are going to be present and that’s a good thing when the world is so chaotic.
